Every body is a Myrtle Beach body

2020. The year travel was cancelled. It has been such a mentally draining year and hard on everyone. We have been contained (for the most part) to the walls within our dwellings, and frankly I am over it! It was time for a change in routine, and luckily we had a family trip booked that still hadn’t been cancelled. That’s not to say we weren’t worried, concerned or took extra precautions, but it was great to get out and have a beach view!

To start, we flew American Airlines since they are the only line with direct flights from DFW to Myrtle Beach. Since this flight was over 2 hours, and they aren’t doing in-flight drink services, our flight attendants greeted us with little goodie bags with a sanitizer wipe, water bottle and a bag of pretzels. I’m not too familiar with other line’s CoVid protocol but you do keep your mask on the entire flight and I wiped down my seat and everything just to be safe. I’ll put myself on blast here but if you are someone with sensitive skin, I do recommend light-to-no makeup and doing a facial mask once you get to your destination to help with the mask-acne! The Myrtle Beach airport is so quaint and easy to maneuver, so getting our luggage wasn’t too hard at all. We picked up our luggage and off to the house we went!

Our house was a little larger than needed but we had a few members pull out of the trip after the booking (CoVid…) but can sleep 30; this 30 included 2 pull out couches which I DO NOT recommend sleeping on. Here is a link to the house we rented if you are interested! But it had everything you need - a living space on each floor, a hot tub and pool, 8 bedrooms (1 bunk room and the other rooms switching between king and double queens) each with their own bathroom (but no tub - so if you have a baby, heads up!), an AMAZING kitchen and of course private beach access since we were ocean front.

We ended up spending most of our days at the pool and a few hours here and there at the beach. The pool was salt water so it does run a little warmer than most but since we had a baby we liked that better to keep chemicals away. The house had a few pool floats but we did bring some of our own, which we always leave behind so others can enjoy. One of the things my cousins and I do is to take pool floats out to the ocean and just hang out - but don’t forget the sunscreen! Of course we had to do some night swims and deep talks; these are the memories I will always cherish with my cousins.

Most of our meals we cook at home,

but a few years a go we

found a cute; little ocean front bar Boardwalk Beach Cafe. They have GREAT quick bites and rinks to just hang out. This year however we took the food to go and even eating the food a little later, it was still amazing! The staff is always so friendly and the patio views just add to the relaxation of beach life.

We had a little bit of time before our flight took off so we went into Myrtle Beach and headed to the boardwalk. Theres lots of public parking for beach goers, restaurants and activities. We asked my sister what she wanted to do so we ended up at Ripley's Believe it or Not! Museum. Some of the things were really cool/interesting while others were kinda cringy. The history buff in me though loved the wall of presidential signatures and some of the cool American facts/trinkets.

All in all, this was a great trip to escape away to and get a change of scenery while staying safe. We got to enjoy some awesome family time, good food and a break from the monotony. If you haven’t gotten to visit Myrtle Beach, I recommend you add it to your list of places!
